Emerging evidence into pomegranate seed oil suggests its use in the prevention and treatment of several types of cancer and cardiovascular disease7
Although these findings are in undergoing clinical trials, the thought of applying completely natural organic oil to prevent and treat cardio vascular (heart), cancer and high blood pressure conditions is attractive, compared to ongoing prescription medication.
Its concentrated blend of powerful phytonutrients and potent antioxidant compounds appear to support the immune system and may also naturally lower blood pressure8.
Pomegranate seed oil may hold hope for Australian women with breast cancer, or wanting to prevent breast cancer.
Still early days, but...
Among its many benefits, clinical research has found potential for pomegranate seed oil in the prevention of breast cancer as it appears to retard oxidation to inhibit breast cancer cell proliferation.9
Israeli researchers from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology also found that pomegranates could have important implications for breast cancer treatment and the safety of oestrogen replacement therapy.
Now this is noteworthy
It was found that pomegranate seed oil triggers apoptosis, a self-destruct mechanism, in breast cancer cells.
Dr. Ephraim Lansky, who headed the study, said: "Pomegranates seem to replace the oestrogen often prescribed to protect postmenopausal women against heart disease and osteoporosis, while selectively destroying dependent-dependent cancer cells." In the first study, laboratory-grown breast cancer cells were treated for three days with pomegranate seed oil.
The researchers observed apoptosis in 37 to 56 per cent of the cancer cells, depending on the dose of oil applied. Dr Lanskey said: "Pomegranates are unique in that the hormonal combinations inherent in the fruit seem to be helpful both for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer".10
With these fantastic applications you may ask why has 100% pure organic pomegranate seed oil never made it here before.
